Understanding Your Breath

Improve Your Health

Understanding your breath is a fundamental step toward improving overall health and well-being. Breathwork is not just about breathing deeply but about learning to control and observe your breath, which can have a direct impact on your physical and mental states. When we’re stressed or anxious, our breathing becomes shallow, triggering the body’s stress response. By becoming more aware of our breath, we can tap into techniques that help calm the nervous system, reduce stress, and bring a sense of focus and relaxation. Simple practices, such as deep belly breathing or alternate nostril breathing, help lower heart rate, improve oxygen flow, and promote relaxation.

Breath awareness also plays a key role in managing physical health. A more intentional approach to breathing has been linked to benefits like improved lung capacity, better digestion, and increased energy levels. It’s a practice that can be integrated into daily routines, whether for a quick midday reset or as part of a meditation practice. If you’re interested in learning more about the power of mindful breathing and how to incorporate different techniques into your life, explore our video guide, which walks you through effective practices to deepen your understanding of breath and its impact on mind and body.

I’ve never really suffered with injuries in my sporting life, however picking up little niggles now & then, I suppose Father Time catches up with us all. However, incredible relief from an Achilles injury today and hopefully on the mend… I’ve been packing with ice but after expert consultation its heat treatment that will solve this one… many thanks to Claudia @ BioMed. Can I suggest that anyone who has an injury goes and see’s her – she really is an expert in her field of work.

I have had 3 electro acupuncture appointments this wee, two treatments on my Achilles injury, also my shoulder, neck & back which Claudia treated and I feel that despite the pain especially from the muscle scraping on Tuesday that my injuries are so much better. My sleep deprivation is likely to be connected and I received brilliant advise from her regarding vitamin intake, rest and recovery whilst training is crucial to long and short term recovery. Non impact cardio suggested, heat treatment despite thinking that R.I.C.E. was doing it good when in fact it needed heat treatment. So anyone with any injury go and see her, she knows her stuff – very warm and friendly.

Claudia recommended trying needle fee electro acupuncture on my knees, due to me having knee issues for 2+ years, and after the treatment the pain in my knees has gone away completely! I highly recommend trying this if you have any sorts of knee pain!!
