Remedial Massage

Remedial massage is just one of the physical therapies we offer, it focuses on addressing specific muscular issues, reducing pain, and aiding in recovery from injuries. This hands-on technique uses targeted pressure and movement to release muscle tension, improve circulation, and accelerate healing. Regular remedial massage can enhance mobility, reduce inflammation, and promote relaxation, making it a valuable tool for ongoing health maintenance.

Benefits: Reduces muscle stiffness, improves blood flow, supports injury recovery, and alleviates pain and stress.

Bodywork

Bodywork involves various therapeutic techniques that work holistically to improve body alignment, mobility, and mental well-being. It combines methods such as acupressure, joint mobilisation, and myofascial release to restore balance and address both physical and emotional stress. Ideal for those seeking a comprehensive approach to wellness, bodywork can help realign the body, ease pain, and boost energy levels.

Benefits: Enhances body alignment, relieves stress, improves flexibility, and supports emotional well-being.

Muscle Scraping

Muscle scraping, also known as Gua Sha or instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilisation, uses a specialised tool to gently scrape the skin. This technique stimulates blood flow and breaks down scar tissue and muscle adhesions, promoting faster recovery. Muscle scraping is highly effective for athletes or those with chronic muscular tension, providing a unique way to boost flexibility and performance.

Benefits: Increases circulation, reduces scar tissue, relieves muscle tension, and accelerates recovery.

Manipulation Therapy

Manipulation therapy involves targeted adjustments to the body’s musculoskeletal structure, particularly the spine and joints, to relieve pain and enhance mobility. By realigning the body, this therapy helps alleviate discomfort, improve posture, and enhance overall function. This os just one of the physical therapies which is an excellent choice for individuals experiencing chronic pain, stiffness, or mobility restrictions.

Benefits: Improves joint mobility, alleviates pain, corrects posture, and supports nervous system health.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture is a form of traditional Chinese medicine which involves the insertion of very fine needles at key points (known as acupuncture points) into the body.

Acupuncture is based on the Chinese belief that the human body is controlled by a life force known as Qi (pronounced ‘chee’). Qi flows through the body in channels, known as meridians. When your Qi is disturbed, or unbalanced, it can make you unwell. Acupuncture aims to restore the balance of Qi, and helps it to run smoothly through your body.

Western Medical Acupuncture derived from the above mentioned method and follows the western view and structure of dealing with health issues. A medical diagnosis has to be given by a GP or Consultant to enable the acupuncturist to apply a precise formula for the presenting condition.

The aim is to aid the body to self healing. It is the only form of acupuncture being able to be included into the present NHS system. Amount of treatment sessions required depends on the condition, severity and the respond of the patient’s body. An indication can be given by the practitioner but a minimum of 4 treatments is strongly advised. Combination therapies may be also recommended at the discretion of the therapist.

Note: Members of health plans including LHF; HSA and BUPA health plans may claim towards the cost of acupuncture. Please refer to your membership pack for details. Your GP can refer you for acupuncture funded by the NHS, and it is worth discussing acupuncture with them if you believe it may help you.

Reflexology

Reflexology involves a method of treatment using massage to reflex areas found in the feet and the hands. Most commonly, the feet are used as the areas to be treated. In the feet, there are reflex areas corresponding to all the parts of the body and these areas are arranged in such a way as to form a map of the body in the feet with the right foot corresponding to the right side of the body and the left foot corresponding to the left side of the body. By having the whole body represented in the feet, the method offers a means of treating the whole body and of treating the body as a whole. This latter point is an important factor of a natural therapy and allows not only symptoms to be treated but also the causes of symptoms.

Indian Head Massage

Another one of the popular physical therapies is Indian Head Massage which is an excellent de-stressing treatment and ideal for relieving tension in neck and shoulder.

Thermo – Auricular Therapy

Hopi ear candles are named after the Native American tribe who first introduced this gentle therapy to the West. The Hopi nation is renowned for their extensive knowledge of healing and their spiritual lifestyle. The translation of the word Hopi means “peaceful ones”. Ear candles are used widely throughout North America and Asia and although the current treatment has come to us from the Hopi tribe, the use of ear candles to treat ear problems has been known for centuries, having been used by the Egyptians, Romans and Greeks.

I have been to see Claudia a few times now and what impresses me most is how she always goes the extra mile. Last time I went I had texted her at 8pm and she managed to see me at 10am the following morning which is now unheard of on the NHS. Her knowledge of alternative therapies is second to none and I would advise you all to put anyone you know with twinges, aches and pains or indeed any medical condition in touch with her to see how she can help.
